Haas is the third seed in the event, cruising to a 1:50.75 in prelims. He’ll need a sub-1:50 to win gold, as Maxime Rooney posted a 1:49.70 in prelims to earn lane four in the final. Also looking for a sub-1:50 swim will be Michael Domagala, who has been 1:49 in his career already.
Haas won the 400 free last night and the 100 free on Thursday.
Reece Whitley, the star 14-year-old made it into the men’s 200 breast final and will be racing a heat full of 17- and 18-year-olds, all with a legitimate shot at winning. The same is true for the women’s 200 breast, with top seed Emma Cain surrounded by strong challengers.
Amy Bilquist and Claire Adams of Carmel Swim Club are looking to go 1-2 in the women’s 100 back, while Michael Taylor will be chasing Vlad Morozov’s meet record of 55.46 in the men’s 100 back final.
The session begins at 6 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time!
Bilquist & Taylor lead the 100 backstrokes, not 100 Flys.
Good catch!
