Ronald Dalmacio Takes Down Three 11-12 Backstroke NAG Records

Over the weekend, 12-year-old Ronald Dalmacio of Rose Bowl Swim Club took down the 11-12 boys’ National Age Group records in all three backstroke events at the Everything Coming Up Roses meet in Pasadena, Calif.
Dalmacio broke his own NAG record in the 50 back with a time of 27.45, lowering his previous NAG mark of 27.88 that had in turn crushed the 28.41 set by Kevin Kyi last year.
In the 100 back, Dalmacio improved his NAG record from 59.98 to 59.54. He’s the only 11-12 swimmer to ever break 1:00 in the event, as Vinny Marciano held the NAG record for the previous three years at 1:00.33.
The 200 back record became Dalmacio’s this weekend as his time of 2:10.01 beat Destin Lasco’s time of 2:10.39 set back in 2014. Dalmacio cut almost five seconds from his previous personal best of 2:14.79, which had ranked him No. 5 all-time in the 11-12 age group.
