Ellery Parish has given her verbal commitment to Rice University. The San Antonio resident will head across the state to Houston in the fall.

Parish shared, “I’m so excited to have committed to Rice! I felt so comfortable and welcomed by the team and the school as a whole. I am looking forward to four years at this amazing school! Go Owls!!”

Parish swims for Streamline Aquatics and is primarily a freestyler who brings a strong 200 backstroke to the mix as well.

Her best times are:

  • 200 Free 1:48.81
  • 500 Free 4:53.05
  • 1000 Free 10:08.03
  • 1650 Free 17:14.65
  • 200 Back 2:02.23

The high school senior is a two time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American and a six time NISCA All-American. Parish attends Alamo Heights High School where she is the defending Texas 5A State Championship bronze medalist in the 200 freestyle.

In a tight battle for second, Rice finished as the runner ups at the 2016 Conference USA Championships. Parish will be a huge point scoring addition to the program. With her best times, she would have finished fourth in the 200 and 500 freestyles and 11th in the 200 backstroke at last year’s meet.

Hannah Sumbera, also a Texan, also committed to the Owls Class of 2021.
