NOVA of Virginia Breaks 13-14 NAG Record in 800 Free Relay
The quartet of Grace Sheble (1:48.19), Caroline Sheble (1:50.32), Olivia Erickson (1:50.12) and Cooper Ackerly (1:50.33) smashed the 13-14 NAG record in the 800 free relay that was a 7:25.00 from Dynamo Swim Club set just last year. The Dynamo team had Tristen Ulett, Addie Farrington, Jade Foelske and Abigail Grottle break that record last year.
The four girls swam at a December time trial hosted by NOVA of Virginia Aquatics on Saturday. They swam a 7:18.96 to smash the old record by six full seconds. Their time would currently be ranked 39th in the NCAA so far this season and the girls just started high school.
Sheble moves up from 64th to 42nd in the all-time rankings in the 13-14 age group in the 200 free with her lead-off split. Sheble is now tied with current Texas sophomore Claire Adams in that spot all-time, also moving past 1984 Olympic gold medalist Tiffany Cohen in the process.
