Michael Andrew, swimming at the small Club North Swimming Adidas Sprint Classic in Gladstone, Missouri, broke Ryan Hoffer‘s 15-16 U.S. National Age Group record in the 100-yard fly.

Andrew clocked a sizzling 46.36 in the event, clipping Hoffer’s mark of 46.42 from 2014.

Meanwhile, Andrew also unloaded the second-fastest 15-16 time ever in the 100-yard breast behind Carsten Vissering’s national age group record of 52.83 as Andrew clocked a 53.09. He previously had a lifetime best effort of 54.34 as Andrew continues to make strides in the yard events as this stands as his 11th short course yard age group mark.

Hoffer set the previous 100-yard fly record at the 2015 USA Swimming Junior Nationals, clearing Alex Valente’s previous mark of 46.99.

Comparative splits:

Andrew: 21.63, 46.36 (24.73)
Hoffer: 21.70, 46.42 (24.72)

Hoffer’s 50 and 100-yard freestyle records of 19.38 and 42.67 could be in jeopardy tomorrow as Andrew is slated to compete in those events on Sunday.

My UM team mate, Matt Gribble, went 47.22 in the early 80’s. I’m not impressed.
