Louisville’s Kelsi Worrell Scorches 100 Fly at ACCs
ATLANTA – This morning, Louisville’s Kelsi Worrell moved to third all time in the women’s 100-yard fly at the ACC Women’s Championships. Tonight, she did even better.
During prelims, she blasted a time of 50.38 to crush the previous ACC record of 51.78 set by Heather Savage in 2013.
That swim moved her to third all time behind Natalie Coughlin’s amazing 2002 effort of 50.01 swimming for California at the NCAA Championships. She also trailed Rachel Komisarz’s sizzler of 50.10 from the 2007 U.S. Winger Nationals.
Tonight, Worrell moved closer, but couldn’t advance in the rankings as she clocked a sterling 50.17. She split the swim 23.43, 26.74, going out much faster than her morning swim of 23.68, 26.70.
Previously, Worrell had been ninth all time in the event with a 50.91 from the 2014 U.S. Winter Nationals.
The big question left is whether she can dip under 50-point next month at the NCAA Championships.
