Lander Valley Wins Wyoming Girls 3A High School State Meet

Wyoming high school swimming championships were also in action on Friday, with the 3A meet. Lander Valley won the state crown with 233 points. Worland was second with 176 points. In third with 159 points was Powell.

Lander Valley’s team of Maria KuklowKiley McConnellMcKenzie Lilygren, and Abby Hamilton won the 200 medley relay in 1:53.60. Olivia Fowler then secured another victory for the team with a 2:03.17 200 freestyle. The sophomore made it an individual double at the end of the day with a 1:00.10 100 back.

Juli Warren of Worland won the 200 IM in 2:13.89 ahead of a trio of Lander Valley swimmers: Kuklow (2:16.68), Lilygren (2:21.97) and Carina Aadahl (2:22.84).

Lander Valley returned to the top of the podium when Hamilton, a senior, touched in 25.10 to win the 50 free.

Sublette sophomore Natalie Hunt out touched Riverton senior Kaylie Gopp 1:03.84 to 1:03.94 to win the 100 butterfly.

Josie Dike of Riverton and Ellyse Russell of Worland raced to the wall in the 50 free. Dike got there first with a 54.75 to Russell’s 54.92.

Buffalo’s Kyera Vasco won the one meter diving with 352.50 points.

Kuklow added to Lander Valley’s victory total in the 500 free. The senior swam a 5:32.33.

Worland’s Macy TrombleyKristen Collingwood, Warren, and Russell combined for a 1:41.88 to win the 200 freestyle relay ahead of Lander Valley. Warren won gold again with her 1:08.40 100 breaststroke.

Ultimately, Lander Valley ended the night where they began it as Folwer, Lily Gose, Lilygren, and Kuklow touched in 3:48.77 to win the 400 freestyle relay.
