Kevin Cordes Stuck To Game Plan In 50 Breast Semifinal (SW Radio)
A two-month trip to Singapore to train with Sergio Lopez seems to be working for American Kevin Cordes, who set an American record in the 50 breast semifinals with a 26.76 to find himself as the third seed for tomorrow’s final.
“It’s been great the last two months,” Cordes said. “I really connected with (Lopez), and we’ve had a plan and stuck to it. Now, we’re seeing the rewards from it.”

Though Cordes was next to Great Britain’s Adam Peaty, who set a world record with a 26.42, Cordes said his only goal was to make sure he got into the final with an aggressive but controlled swim.
“I knew he was going to be there, so I knew had to get in front and try to bring it home,” he said. “It’s only semis, so I was trying to make it to the next step forward tomorrow night and see what happens.”
