Kelsi Worrell Races to 3rd in World in 100 Fly With Pan American Games Mark

USA’s Kelsi Worrell crushed the Pan American Games record in the women’s 100-meter fly with a world-class effort.
Worrell uncorked a blistering time of 57.24 to blast the previous Games mark of 58.59 set by Claire Donahue back in 2011.
The swim shot Worrell up to third in the world rankings this year, and into 14th all time in the event’s history.

[table “” not found /]That’s a personal best by exactly a second for Worrell, lowering her previous top time of 58.24 from the Mesa stop of the Arena Pro Swim Series.
Canada’s Katerine Savard hit the wall second in the morning with a 58.34, just off her 18th-ranked season best of 58.18. Canada’s Noemie Thomas, ranked 16th in the world with a 58.08, qualified third in 58.61.
Brazil’s Daynara De Paula (58.70), Brazil’s Daiene Dias (59.16), Bahamas’ Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace (59.33), USA’s Gia Dalesandro (59.83) and Colombia’s Jessica Camposano (1:00.85) qualified fourth through eighth.
Costa Rica’s Marie Meza (1:01.01), Mexico’s Ana Revilak (1:01.25), Venezuela’s Isabella Paez (1:01.27), Argentina’s Belen Diaz (1:01.53), Peru’s McKenna De Bever (1:01.62), Mexico’s Diana Luna (1:01.85), Colombia’s Carolina Colorado (1:02.36) and Puerto Rico’s Tereysa Lehnertz (1:02.43) will compete in the B final.
