LARCHMONT, New York, October 6. There are some deep ties running between Badger Swim Club and the Indiana Hoosiers, and they are sure to continue as Jack Collins has committed to attend Indiana University after his senior season.
Collins, the son of alum John Collins, who happens to be the head coach at Badger Swim Club, will be continuing on the tradition. Collins was an All-American under legendary coach Doc Counsilman at IU.
Collins, the 11th-ranked swimmer in the State of New York by CollegeSwimming.com, is a bit of a late bloomer since he finally succumbed to the swimming bug as a sophomore in high school.
“I chose Indiana because I felt at home,” Collins said. “The school, team and coaches are all great fits for me. I know that I can reach my highest potential at Indiana. Go Hoosiers!”

Collins, who goes to school at Fordham Prep in Bronx, N.Y., should take to distance coach Mike Westphal’s training as he’s made some serious drops since beginning the sport as a sophomore.
His highest-ranked time is a 15:59.52 in the 1500-meter free, while he also clocked an 8:24.01 at this summer’s junior nationals in long course. He has some speed with a 4:06.40 in the 400-meter free as well.
In short course, Collins has gone a 4:37.96 in the 500, a 9:27.60 in the 1000 and a 15:55.89 in the 1650 freestyle.
Badger Swim Club has become the go-to destination for Indiana post-grads with Lindsay Vrooman, Cody Miller, and James Wells among those who represented Badger Swim Club this summer.
