Italians Top Team 5K at European Open Water Championships

After Sunday’s 10K and Tuesday’s 5K, today featured the team 5K at the 2016 European Open Water Championships in Hoorn, Netherlands.
The Italian crew of Rachele Bruni, Simone Ruffini, and Federico Vanelli claimed gold with a 55:59.3, over 30 seconds ahead of the next best team. Vanelli was runner up in yesterday’s 5K. Bruni tied for gold in the women’s 10K.
Finnia Wunram, Rob Muffels, and Andreas Waschburger earned silver for Germany in 56:37.0. Wunram was the runner up in the individual 5K.
In third was Hungary’s team of Eva Fruzsina Risztov, Mark Papp, and Daniel Szekelyi with a 56:42.6
Great Britain and Russia also finished under an hour.
