Findlay, Ashland Swimming Split Dual Meets
ASHLAND, Ohio, October 11. Findlay and Ashland swimming split a pair of dual meets at Ashland University. Findlay’s women won, 155-124, while Ashland’s men took a 179-106 victory.

The University of Findlay men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams faced off against Ashland University in Ashland, Ohio on Friday, October 10. The women won 155-124 while the men fell 179-106.
To kick off the meet, the women took first place in the 400-yard medley relay with Jessica Ward, Kaley Holmstrom, Emily Annen and Molly Cade finishing with a time of 4:01.00.
The relay team of Cade, Annen, Emily Stroud and Emma Barnes took second place in the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time 3:45.50.
Ward also took first place in the 100 yard backstroke (58.50), first place in the 200 yard backstroke (2:08.73) and second place in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 25.22.
Holmstrom took first place in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:09.06), second place in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:30.45) and second place in the 200 yard individual medley (2:18.86).
Cade claimed first place in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:10.02 while Kyleigh Rubis claimed third with a time of 2:20.37. Cade also took first place in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.62 while Annen took second place with a time of 1:01.17.
Barnes took first place in the 200 yard freestyle (1:56.32) and first place in the 500 yard freestyle (5:17.93). Barnes also took second place in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 54.53 while Stroud took fourth place with a time of 58.78.
Annie Currin took third place in the 1,000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:16.60 and fourth place in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:33.54.
Ashleigh Weddington took first place on the one meter board with a score of 203.55 and first place on the three meter board with a score of 216.75.
On the men’s side, the relay team of Nick Kaftan, Clay Fogle, Cody Craig and Todo Djurovic claimed first place in the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:18.07. The Oilers also took third place in the 400-yard medley relay with the team of Fogle, Matthew Sheehan, Aaron Mitchell and Ian Kochheiser finishing with a time of 3:53.33.
Todo Djurovic took first place in the 100 yard breaststroke (59.45), first place in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:11.73) and second place in the 200 yard individual medley (1:58.41).
Janko Radmanovic had a huge night for the Oilers taking first place in the 200 yard butterfly (1:54.92), first place in the 100 yard freestyle (47.57) and first place in the 100 yard butterfly (51.87).
Skyler Pollock took second place in the 1,000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:08.00 while Jonathan Marble took third place with a time of 11:12.71.
Kaftan took second place in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:50.44 and fourth place in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 49.99.
Ross Stansbery took fourth place in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 56.78.
The Oilers return to the pool on Friday, October 17 when they host Hillsdale College and Malone University at the Sink Natatorium.

The Ashland University swim and dive team had their season opening swim meet on Friday night (Oct. 10) against the Findlay Oilers. The men came away victorious 179-106, while the women fell to the Oilers 155-124.
Numerous new male Eagles had impressive showings in their first meets. Freshman, Ryan Deemer won the 1,000 yard freestyle by over a minute over his nearest competitor, clocking in at 10:07.10. Nicholas Noe cruised in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:48.57 and Andrew Martin won the 50 yard freestyle in 22.26 seconds. Matthew Dixon won the men’s one meter and three meter diving. Christopher Georgiadis won the 200 yard IM in 1:58.18.
On the women’s side, Hannah Mattar was the class of the 1,000 yard freestyle, winning in 10:58.58. She also won the 200 yard freestyle. Kaylyn Murphy came away victorious in both the 50 yard and 100 yard freestyle events.
The Eagles will return home on October 25th to host the Tiffin Dragons. The meet will start at 1 pm.
