Lorrie John Trites, who was Banned for Life by USA Swimming in 2013 and is on the FBI’s Most Wanted List as a fugitive swim coach, now has a price tag on his head as the FBI has offered an undisclosed financial reward “for information leading to the arrest of Lorrie John Trites.”

Trites is on the FBI List for “allegedly making video and voice recordings of several young women as they changed their clothing in the ladies locker room of the aquatic center.”

Trites was initially arrested and charged with six counts of violating the Pennsylvania Wiretapping and Electronic Surveillance Control Act on a warrant issued in March of 1998. Trites then fled, and has since been charged with “unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.”

Trites’ case also appeared on the television show “America’s Most Wanted” in 2008. Trites’ ban from USA Swimming was effective February 25, 2013.

Information still on file from the FBI regarding Trites and his potential whereabouts are as follows:

“Trites has ties to New Mexico, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Florida, Canada, Trinidad, and the Bahamas. He may have facial hair. Trites is an avid swimmer and may be involved in some way with the swimming community.”

WHAT TOOK US SWIMMING SO LONG TO ACT ON THIS? Fifteen years after he was first arrested? Then 5 years after he was rewarded with the honor of being one of the FBI’s most wanted. I sure hope we are more on top of it now?

I am appalled it took this long to get this loser banned. As a parent of swimmers, this is very troubling.

Lynda, you should be appalled. US Swimming played “ostrich” for way too long. And, I am still not convinced that they are aggressive in working with this problem.

Yes he was my coach Freshman and Sophomore year at F&M before he went on the run. I can still remember the day girls on the college team found the video recorder in their lockerroom. Can’t believe he has never been caught.
