Donations Sought In Wake of Albright Swimmer Matt Rein’s Death in House Fire
READING, Pennsylvania, September 17. EARLIER this week, tragic news broke that Albright College swimmer Matt Rein died during a house fire on Saturday. The 19-year-old sophomore died in the house fire that claimed the property known as “the pool house” where many of the swimmers gathered.
Now, the support system at Albright is looking for help in getting team members’ lives back together after the chaos of not only losing a friend, but also losing their home and all of their belongings as well as medical bills that are piling up due to injuries suffered as part of the fire.
Kelsea Guckin is taking charge of handling the collection of donations for everyone involved.
If you do wish to send items or gift cards please send them to:

In particular, the school and those providing support are looking for clothes for the people who lost all of their belongings.
Albright states “the guys are of average height (between 5’4” and 6’) and of athletic build, so men’s medium to X-large shirts would be perfect.”
They are also looking for help with school supplies (notebooks, pens, etc.) and toiletries (towels, detergent, linens, soap, etc.). Any surplus items will be donated to Goodwill.
Arena would like to help. I have some USA Swimming branded items that I’d like to send that includes Shirts, Shorts, Backpacks, and possibly a few other items.
I’ll also send Arena branded only product.
Please send a suggested donation to my email address and I’ll do my best to fill it.
