DART’s Chloe Mitchell Raises $2,200 for Breast Cancer Research
EL DORADO HILLS, California, October 3. Chloe Mitchell, a junior at St. Francis High School in Sacramento, Calif., as well as a member of the Davis-Arden Hills Racing Team (DART), recently completed her 2014 Caps for Cancer Fundraiser to the tune of $2,200 for breast cancer research. All proceeds are donated to the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center Breast Cancer research department.
In 2010, Mitchell had two family friends lose their mothers to breast cancer, leading her to wanting to do something more than just be a warm shoulder to cry on for her friends. With breast cancer survivors and those currently fighting the disease in mind, she established a Caps for Cancer fundraiser with her former team the Sierra Marlins. That program still continues to this day.
In 2012, Mitchell joined Arden Hills Swimming right before it merged with Davis Aquatics to create DART. After taking a bit of time to settle in, Mitchell started up another Caps for Cancer campaign with her new teammates as they work to raise funds for the project.
The most recent fundraiser took place in late August and early September, with members of the team now wearing the caps every day at practice and at every swim meet through October’s Breast Cancer Awareness month.
