Carmel’s Michael Gorey Sends 2025 Verbal to Arizona State

NEW COMMIT: Arizona State University has secured another verbal commitment for Fall 2025 from Junior National qualifier Michael Gorey of Carmel, Indiana.

He will join Trevor Boodt in Tempe as a member of the Sun Devils’ Class of 2029.

Regarding his commitment, he said:

“I chose ASU because Coach Bowman and his staff have a great program developing elite world swimmers, at a great business school. I am looking forward to continuing the level of training here at Carmel, at ASU.”

A breaststroker and IMer, Gorey trains year-round with Carmel Swim Club. He earned five best times at Juniors East back in December. Last summer, he finaled in two events at Indiana LCM Seniors before going on to race three events at Junior Nationals.

His best times include:

  • 200 breast – 2:01.39
  • 100 breast – 55.80
  • 200 IM – 1:48.79
  • 400 IM – 3:54.82
  • 50 free – 20.74
  • 100 free – 45.76

Currently a junior at Carmel High School, Gorey placed fourth in the 200 IM and 10th in the 100 breast at the 2023 Indiana State Championships. He also won gold in the 4×50 medley relay and silver in the 4×50 free relay, helping the Greyhounds secure their ninth-straight state title.

The Sun Devils will have moved to the Big 12 by the time Gorey arrives on campus.
