Canada Claims Meet Record in Mixed 400 Free Relay at 2015 FINA World Junior Championships
Canada crushed the mixed 400 free relay meet record at the 2015 FINA World Junior Championships.
The foursome of Javier Acevedo, Markus Thormeyer, Penny Oleksiak and Taylor Ruck turned in a winning time of 3:27.71. That swim broke the meet record of 3:28.74 set by Australia in 2013.
Although the official stats have Canada’s time as the World Junior record, it is slower than the unratified World Junior mark of 3:27.02 set by Li Guangyuan, Qiu Yuhan, Yu Hexin and Shen Duo at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games.
Australia’s Jack Cartwright, Kyle Chalmers, Lucy Elizabeth McJannett and Shayna Jack took silver in 3:28.59.
Russia’s Vladislav Kozlov, Igor Shadrin, Mariia Kameneva and Arina Openysheva earned bronze in 3:28.79.
Brazil (3:29.92), USA (3:30.03), Italy (3:30.57), Germany (3:34.30) and China (3:34.30) also competed in the finale.
