Baylor School Ladies Set National Record in 200 Free Relay at Tennessee State Champs
NASHVILLE, Tennessee, February 11. FUELED by Kristen Vredeveld's leadoff leg of 22.27, the Baylor School obliterated its own national high school record in the 200 freestyle relay with a spectacular performance of 1:31.18. That effort bettered Baylor's previous record of 1:32.63, set last year.
Vredeveld just missed the National Independent School record for the 50 free on her opening leg, which is held by Maddy Schaefer at 22.24. Her jumpstart, however, put Baylor on the right track for its national standard. Vredeveld was followed by Ashley Yearwood's split of 23.11 while Kimberlee John-Williams checked in with a 22.85 mark on the third leg. Bria Deveaux anchored the quartet home in 22.95.
The public-school record remains at 1:32.75, held by Carmel High of Indiana.
