Olympic gold medalist Allison Schmitt confirmed at the Arena Pro Swim Series Charlotte that she would be joining NBAC head coach Bob Bowman in his move to Tempe.
“I’m excited to go to Arizona, follow Bob out there, follow the team out there, and it’s gonna be a fun training group, and it’ll be fun to be in the sun all the time. Sun’s out, guns out!”
This is the next domino to fall in all of the top NBAC swimmers who may or may not be making the transition with Bowman as he takes over as the head coach at Arizona State.
Michael Phelps confirmed via Twitter a few days after Bowman stated that Phelps would follow him during his hiring press conference.
Chase Kalisz just took an Olympic redshirt from Georgia and will head to Tempe for the next year after a short stint in Baltimore.
The rest of the big guns from North Baltimore are still under consideration. However, not every one of them plans on making the move. Swimming World is working on confirmation of each individual swimmer’s choice in the matter.
