Air Force, UNLV vs. Denver

DENVER, Colorado, January 14. THE University of Denver women's swimming team swept the competition on Friday afternoon at El Pomar Natatorium, while the men's team defeated Air Force and dropped a close decision to No. 16 ranked UNLV which came down to the wire.

The Pioneer women dominated the Air Force Falcons 235.00 to 59.00 and defeated UNLV 176.00 to 121.00, while the men topped Air Force 200.00 to 98.00 and were barely edged by UNLV 141.00 to 138.00. The DU seniors were also honored during Friday's meet.

"I'm really proud of all the efforts tonight," said head coach Brian Schrader. "We had outstanding performances from Grace Kittle, Rachel Burns, and Liz Yovich in diving on the women's side of competition, and on the men's side from Scott Madaras, Caleb Severns, Jeff Giddens (Carlsbad, Calif.), and Seth McNew. They all contributed to winning events as seniors, and it was a fun way for them to end their dual meet careers."
