2015 NCAA Division II Championships: Matt Josa Moves to 19th All Time in 200 IM
The first night of finals at the 2015 NCAA Division II Championships is complete and some truly amazing swims happened this evening at the IU Natatorium. Queens’ Matt Josa moved to 19th all time in the men’s 200-yard IM, while several other NCAA D2 records fell.
After day one, Drury led Queens, 128-123, in the women’s team title race. Meanwhile, Lindenwood (94), Grand Valley (94), Drury (91) and Queens (72.5) make up the top four in the men’s race.
Women’s 1000 free
Lindenwood’s Alecia McGillivray dethroned defending champion Alli Crenshaw of Florida Southern in the women’s 1000-yard free to start the evening off.
McGillivray turned in a top time of 9:58.42 to win the title by more than a second.
Drury’s Allie Reynolds, swimming during earlier heats, took second overall in 10:00.31, with Crenshaw closing out the top three in 10:02.53.
Kristen Frost’s swift 9:50.49 NCAA D2 record set in 2008 for Southern Connecticut State will stand for another year.

Men’s 200 medley relay
Wayne State’s Juan David Molina Perez, Piotr Jachowicz, Soren Holm and Josh Schacht won the medley relay in 1:26.17, just missing their own 2014 NCAA D2 record of 1:26.02.
Lindenwood’s Krzysztof Jankiewicz, Mateusz Pacholczyk, Serghei Golban and Michal Szczukowski finished second overall in 1:26.73 with Drury’s Sean Feher, Kacper Pelczynski, Stanislav Kuzmin and Rodrigo Caceres Acosta earned third in 1:27.09.
Queens’ lack of a medley relay certainly put a damper in what was a tremendous day as Lindenwood, Grand Valley and Drury moved right on past them in the team scoring.
Lindenwood and Grand Valley lead after day one with 94 points, while Drury is third with 91 points. Queens stood fourth with 72.5 points.
