U.S. Paralympic Swimming Team Trials Set for June 27-29 in Minneapolis

The United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee on Monday set dates and sites for the 2024 U.S. Paralympic Swimming Team Trials. They’ll be held June 27-29 in Minneapolis.

Swimming trials return to the University of Minnesota’s Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center, which hosted them in 2021 and also hosts the NCAA Men’s Championships this year. The venue, opened in 1990, holds 1,350 spectators and up to 1,200 competitors.

The USOPC is expecting up to 200 competitors vying for a spot at the Paralympics in Paris next summer. Registration for the event will open on Jan. 15, 2024.

“Making the U.S. Paralympic team for the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games was a dream come true,” Paralympic swimmer Summer Schmit, who trains at the University of Minnesota, said in a press release. “I am excited to once again compete for a spot to represent Team USA during the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. To do so in front of family and friends in my home state of Minnesota is truly an honor.”

Monday’s release also set the track and field paralympic trials for July 18-21 in Chula Vista, California. The marathon qualification will be attached to the New York City Marathon on Nov. 5, which serves as the Paris selection event.

The Paralympic Games open one year from Monday on Aug. 28, 2024, in Paris. They will run through Sept. 8. Detailed information on the U.S. Paralympic Swimming Team Trials is available through the USPOC’s website.
