Juniors Finalist AnneMarie Vlaic Verbals to SMU for 2025

NEW COMMIT: Southern Methodist University has picked up a big verbal commitment for the 2025-26 season and beyond from Junior National qualifier AnneMarie Vlaic of Lake Oswego, Oregon.

Vlaic is one of the top butterflyers in the Class of 2025.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am incredibly ecstatic and honored to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Southern Methodist University!! I want to give a huge thanks to all the coaches, teammates, friends, and family that have helped me get to where I am now and for always supporting me along the way. I also want to give a tremendous thank you to LOSC and SMU for helping me find my new home. I am so excited to see what the future holds. PONY UP!!”

Vlaic trains year-round with Lake Oswego Swim Club and placed fifth in the 200 fly at Juniors West in December. Last summer, she raced to 15th overall in the 200m fly at Junior Nationals.

Her best times include:

  • 200 fly – 1:57.12
  • 100 fly – 54.28
  • 500 free – 4:54.73
  • 200 free – 1:51.41
  • 200 IM – 2:07.72
  • 50 free – 24.05
  • 100 free – 52.23

Currently a junior at Lake Oswego High School, Vlaic recently won the 100 fly and 500 free at the Oregon 6A State Championships. She earned gold and silver, respectively, in those events during her sophomore season.

By the time she arrives on campus, SMU will be part of the Atlantic Coast Conference.
