Bolles School Makes History, Sweeps National High School Relay Records; Schooling Breaks 100 Fly Mark – Full Videos Available

ORLANDO, Florida, November 10. THE Bolles School made history at the Florida State High School Swimming and Diving Championships, 1A Division, with a national high school relay record sweep of the 200-yard medley, 200-yard freestyle and 400-yard free relays. Joseph Schooling also lowered the 100-yard fly mark.

The foursome of Ryan Murphy (21.09), Joseph Schooling (25.48), Josh Booth (21.81) and Santo Condorelli (19.64) clocked a blistering time of 1:28.09. That stunning performance demolished the previous record of 1:29.79 set by Bolles in 2009. Murphy is the only remaining member of that 2009 performances. Hershey's 1:30.27 from 2010 remains in the record books as the national public school standard.

Murphy's split is remarkable for a high schooler, considering that the top backstroke leadoff at the 2012 NCAA Division I Men's Championships last season was a 21.24 by Auburn's Kyle Owens in Federal Way, Wash.

Schooling returned in the 100 fly to eradicate the national high school mark in the 100-yard fly with a sizzling 46.50. The stunning effort cleared the previous record of 46.64 set by Montgomery Bell's Maclin Davis during prelims of the Tennessee high school championships in February of this year. Madison's Sean Fletcher remains in possession of the national public school record of 47.08. He turned in that performance in 2009 in Virginia. Schooling would have placed eighth at NCAAs last season.

Bolles downed its third national record of the day, and fourth independent standard, with a jaw-dropping time of 1:19.27 in the 200-yard free relay. The foursome of Murphy (19.54), Schooling (19.73), Emiro Goossen (20.54) and Condorelli (19.46) cleared the previous record of 1:20.88 set by Bolles last month. Hershey's effort of 1:21.01 remains the national public school standard as set originally in 2011. Murphy, meanwhile, blasted a time of 19.54 as the relay leadoff. That performance bested Giles Smith's national independent school record of 19.74 for McDonogh in Maryland in 2009. Vlad Morozov, however, held onto the overall and public school record with his 19.43 relay leadoff for Torrance High in California back in 2010.

Bolles successfully completed its run at history by turning in a national high school relay record trifecta. The 3:00 barrier had been legendary within the sport of high school swimming in the 400-yard freestyle relay. While Bolles dropped the time to a rare 2:58.58 in October, this evening the foursome of Murphy (42.95), Condorelli (43.11), Booth (44.67) and Schooling (43.70) stunned the nation with a hard-to-believe time of 2:54.43. Murphy leadoff with a strong time of 42.95.

A bit of context on just how amazingly fast this swim was – it would have place seventh at the NCAA Division I Men's Championships last year, against full grown collegiate men.
