Japan Announces Olympic Team of 27 Swimmers

By Hideki Mochizuki, Swimming World Japanese correspondent

TOKYO, Japan, April 8. WITH seven days of the Japanese Olympic Trials coming to the end, the following Olympic team roster was introduced right after the final race of the day. The national team members were selected by Japan's own qualifying standard with no exception. These 27 members broke the standard and made the team including relay members. Out of this team roster, the final decision on which events each swimmer would be competing in London will be decided later. For example, Takuro Fujii did not qualify for an individual event, making the team only for the men's 400m medley relay. But he may swim 100m butterfly in London if team director and head national coach decide so.
