Czech Record Holder Michal Rubacek Banned Two Years for Positive Test
PRAGUE, Czech Republic, March 27. TODAY, the Czech Swimming Federation announced that Czech national record holder Michal Rubacek has been banned two years for testing positive for the banned stimulant methylhexanamine at his national championships in December, according to the Washington Post.
Rubacek will now miss the 2012 London Olympics after swimming for his country in both the 204 Athens and 2008 Beijing Games. He is currently the national record holder in the 50 and 100-meter butterfly events.
This is the same supplement for which Sean Mahoney of the U.S., Abdul Rehaman Al Bader of Kuwait, and Fabiola Molina of Brazil all drew bans.
Nearly two years ago, USA Swimming warned its athletes about the stimulant, often listed as 1, 3 Dimethylamylamine (Geranium [stem]) in supplements.
