Irish Long Course Nationals: Sycerika McMahon Continues Dominance, Niall Wynn Tracks Down Decade-Old Irish Record

DUBLIN, Ireland, April 30. THE Irish Long Course Nationals continued to be the Sycerika McMahon show with her running her win total to five titles. Meanwhile, Niall Wynn took down a 10-year-old Irish mark.

McMahon, 16, continued to dominate the podium at the meet. After winning three titles during the first day of competition, she now owns five crowns. She captured the women's 100 breast title in 1:11.80, while Shani Stallard (1:12.85) and Catrina English (1:16.20) took second and third. McMahon also crushed the competition in the women's 400 IM with a winning 4:51.56. Stallard placed a distant second in 4:58.73, while Saoirse McGrath finished third in 5:14.56.

Wynn downed the second Irish record of the meet with a 4:27.96 in the men's 400 IM. That performance smashed the previous mark of 4:30.10 set by Andrew Bree in 2001. Paul Wudtke took second in 4:31.63, while Nicholas Quinn finished third in 4:36.48.

Nuala Murphy nabbed the women's 1500 free title in 17:19.13. Cliodhna Delaney (18:33.66) and Sarah Kelly (18:43.02) rounded out the top three. Bethany Carson claimed the women's 100 free in 57.73. Niamh Murphy touched second in 58.35, while Shauna Smith placed third in 58.50.

Conor Donnelly snatched the men's 1500 free title in 16:09.35. Conor Turner earned second in 16:12.13, while Christopher Bryan rounded out the top three in 16:16.93. Luke Campbell won the men's 100 free in 52.03. Curtis Coulter (52.89) and Botonde Solymossy (53.10) completed the podium.

Michael Dawson snared the men's 100 breast title in 1:03.92. Johnny Quinn (1:05.16) and Emmet Crowley (1:05.52) finished second and third.

In relay action, India McGlynn, Gillian Gavaghan, Lisa Comerford and Aisling Cooney won the women's 800 free relay in 8:50.84. Bernard Cahill, Dylan Ryan, Conor Rooney and Dylan Barrett captured the men's 800 free relay in 8:11.89.
