Swedish Short Course Championships: Therese Alshammar Closes Meet With National Record
GOTHENBURG, Sweden, November 29. THREE more Swedish records were set in the final day of action at the Swedish Short Course Championships.
Therese Alshammar cruised in the women's 50 back with a national-record time of 26.62. Her performance beat the 27.42 set by Lovisa Ericsson last year. Alshammar later clocked a meet-record time of 23.72 in the women's 50 free. She lowered her previous record of 23.80 set last year.
Simon Frank posted a 4:13.90 in the men's 400 IM to set the national junior record. Christoffer Wallin set the previous mark with a 4:14.12 set three weeks ago.
The SK Neptun team of Petter Stymne, Stefan Nystrand, Simon Sjodin and Pontus Flodqvist clocked a time of 1:25.53 in the men's 200 free relay to lower the national record. The previous record stood since 2007 with a 1:27.54. The Vasby SS squad of Sara Thyden, Josefin Lillhage, Petra Granlund and Malin Svahnstrom turned in a 3:57.58 in the women's 400 medley relay to lower the national record. The previous record of 3:58.88 was set last year.
Granlund downed Joline Hostman, 58.33 to 59.46, to win the women's 100 fly title, while Gabriella Fagundez took the women's 400 free crown in 4:07.39. Mans Hjelm topped the men's 100 back in 53.70, while Mattias Carlsson held off Robin Andreasson and Radovan Siljevski, 1:46.28 to 1:46.83 and 1:46.92, in the men's 200 free. Lars Frolander snagged the men's 50 fly title in 23.71.
