FINA World Championships, Swimming: Kirsty Coventry Dips Into 2:05 in 200 Back Semis

ROME, Italy, July 31. WORLD record holder Kirsty Coventry of Zimbabwe threatened her world record in the women's 200 back with an easy swim during semis at the FINA World Championships.
Coventry cruised through the second semifinal with a 2:05.86, which is the second-fastest time ever in the event behind only her global mark of 2:05.24.
Russia's Anastasia Zueva (2:07.00), Great Britain's Elizabeth Simmonds (2:07.21), the United States' Elizabeth Beisel (2:07.48) and Great Britain's Gemma Spofforth posted 2:07 times as the silver-medal hopefuls.
Japan's Aya Terakawa (2:08.49), France's Alexianne Castel (2:08.77) and the United States' Elizabeth Pelton (2:09.57) also will compete in the championship finale.
