ROME, Italy, July 25. RUSSIA concluded another dominant run in synchronized swimming with another gold, this time in the team free finale at the FINA World Championships held in Rome.
Anastasia Davydova, Natalia Ishchenko, Daria Korobova, Anna Nasekina, Aleksandra Patskevich, Svetlana Romashina, Alla Shishkina and Anzhelika Timanina won with a near-perfect 99.167 points. The team collected 49.667 points from artistic impression, including a 10 from judges Natalia Petrachina and Jennifer Gray. Russia also earned 49.5 points from technical merit.
Spain's Ona Carbonell, Raquel Corral, Margalida Crespi, Andrea Fuentes, Thais Henriquez, Paula Klamburg, Gemma Mengual and Irina Rodriguez finished second with 98.167. The squad tallied 49.167 points in artistic impression, including a 10 from judge Maribel Solis. Spain also garnered 49 points in technical merit.
China's Huang Xuechen, Jiang Tingting, Jiang Wenwen, Liu Ou, Luo Xi, Wang Na, Wu Yiwen and Zhang Xiaohuan rounded out the podium with a bronze-winning 97.167 points. The contingent earned 48.667 points in artistic impression, and 48.5 points in technical merit.
Notably, the U.S. finished ninth overall with 91.667 points (46 for artistic impression and 45.667 for technical merit).
