Croatian Championships: Smiljana Marinovic, Mario Todorovic, Niksa Roki Set Croatian Marks
RIJEKA, Croatia, July 4. THE second evening of long course meter swimming at the Croatian Championships featured three more national marks taking a tumble.
Smiljana Marinovic topped Mirna Jukic's national record in the women's 100 breast with a time of 1:10.42. Jukic previously set the standard with a 1:10.56 back in 2001. Gabrijela Korac (1:13.68) and Lana Dragojevic (1:15.62) completed the top three.
Mario Todorovic snatched the men's 100 free national record away from Duje Draganja with a winning time of 48.77. The swim cleared Draganja's 2008 mark of 48.81. Ante Zoricic (49.34) and Mario Delac (50.10) touched second and third.
Niksa Roki cruised in the men's 400 IM with a national-record time of 4:21.60. The performance erased the 4:22.44 set by Sasa Impric in 2008. Goran Ljubicic (4:40.10) and Sandro Tomas (4:40.90) rounded out the medalwinners.
In other finals competition, Karla Sitic won the women's 200 fly in 2:18.91. Marijela Brajevic (2:24.56) and Meri Cizmar (2:27.43) placed second and third. Aleksandar Damjanic claimed the men's 200 fly title in 2:02.04. Lovro Kustic finished just behind in 2:02.44, while Petar Mrcela touched third in 2:02.68.
Vanja Rogulj earned the men's 100 breast crown in 1:01.98, just off his national record of 1:01.82 from last year. Ivan Bilic (1:02.70) and Impric (1:03.41) rounded out the top three.
Maja Pavlovic took home the women's 100 free title in 57.89, while Matea Peteh (58.20) and Petra Radovic (58.28) placed second and third.
Josip Soldo won the men's 1500 free title in 16:43.49. Marko Duric (16:44.90) and Roko Simunovic (16:57.32) finished second and third.
Kim Daniela Pavlin claimed the women's 400 IM in 5:04.67. Ivana Pijanovic took second in 5:10.30, while Meri Cizmar touched third in 5:18.23.
