FINA Announces Provisional Point Leaders of World Cup Circuit
LAUSANNE, Switzerland, October 13. AFTER a few days of action during the first stop (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) of the FINA World Cup series, the organization released the top three point leaders.
Christian Sprenger of Australia used a strong performance in the breaststroke events to lead among the men with 25 points. Russia's Stanislav Donets did well in the backstroke en route to 20 points, while hometown favorite Cesar Cielo of Brazil stood third after the meet with 16 points.
For the women, Australia's Marieke Guehrer led the way with 25 points, while Sweden owned the next to spots. Josefin Lillhage sat in second with 20 points, while 2007 World Cup victor Therese Alshammar wound up third with 16 points.
The series travels to Durban, South Africa later this week.
