Kohei Kawamoto Drops Asian, Japanese Record
Left Sidebar
NIIGATA, Japan, October 2. KOHEI Kawamoto keeps dropping the Japanese standard in the men's 50 fly.
After taking the standard down to 23.71 during the 2008 United States Masters Swimming Championships in August, Kawamoto just bettered that mark again…and this time, it should count.
The Japanese Swimming Federation had initially refused to recognize the 23.71 due to the time being swum under the Masters banner. This time, at the Daiei Porbis Phoenix Pool in Niigata, Japan, Kawamoto clocked a time of 23.60 to take the Asian and Japanese record. The former Asian and Japanese record had been a 23.84 by Ryo Takayasu in April of 2007.
