The Morning Swim Show: Analyzing USA Swimming’s Decision to Restrict Swimsuit Use in Age Group Swimming; Looking at Future of Men’s 400 IM
PHOENIX, Arizona, October 1. ANALYSIS of USA Swimming's decision to restrict the use of high-tech swimsuits in age-group competition, as well as a look at the future of the men's 400 IM on the world scene, is the focus of the Thursday edition of The Morning Swim Show.
Tony Young, who served as chairman on the USA Swimming age group development committee, joins the show to break down the vote to restrict what types of swimsuits are worn in age-group competitions by those 12 and under. Young dissects the wording of the new rule, saying the restriction does not outright ban any specific brand or company, just how much skin the suit can cover.
Swimming World senior writer John Lohn and host Peter Busch analyze the future of the men's 400 IM, now that Michael Phelps has announced plans to drop the event. The top two names, obviously, are the silver and bronze medalists at the Olympics, Laszlo Cseh and Ryan Lochte. Lohn and Busch talk about other names around the world that could give them a challenge.
