Matt Farrell, managing director of business development for USA Swimming, talks with host Brent Rutemiller in the wake of controversy since the Missouri Grand Prix, when unapproved video of races was used on websites devoted to swimming coverage.
Farrell discusses USA Swimming's role in promoting the sport, and what it does to make sure every member of the media gets the access necessary to do their jobs effectively. He said today's challenges of dealing with Internet media isn't much different from the way USA Swimming handled media members when newspapers and magazines were the primary news sources.
With the partnership between Wasserman Media Group and USA Swimming becoming a hot topic, Farrell continues to talk about the way Wasserman and USA Swimming will continue to distribute video packages from USA Swimming meets to media members.
He goes on to say that USA Swimming and Wasserman do not share a goal of shutting out other members of the media at swimming events. He said USA Swimming's goal is to promote swimming and expose it to as many people as possible.
Reactions to USA Swimming's Position will be featured in Friday's (3-14-2008) Morning Swim Show
