FINA Previews Third Stop of Diving World Series Taking Place This Weekend in China
LAUSANNE, Switzerland, September 13. AFTER dominating the first two legs in Sheffield and Mexico City, the Chinese athletes are again the favorites to shine, at home, in Nanjing, for the third and last rendezvous of this inaugural edition of the FINA Diving World Series on Sept. 15-16, 2007.
Having won all the gold medals at stake both in Great Britain and Mexico, Jingjing Guo, Chong He and their teammates will be the divers to beat in China. The opposition will certainly be strong from the stars attending the competition, including Canada's Alexandre Despatie, Italy's Tania Cagnotto, Russia's Yulia Pakhalina, Cuba's Jose Guerra Oliva and Australia's Melissa Wu.
The program of the FINA Diving World Series includes the eight Olympic events: 3m springboard and 10m platform (individual and synchro), for both men and women.
A total of US$ 480,000 will be distributed as prize money for the FINA Diving World Series 2007, comprising US$ 96,000 per meet and US$ 192,000 after the conclusion of the three legs of the competition.
The finals of the three legs of the 2007 FINA Diving World Series are streamed live on the FINA web site www.fina.org.
