ROBERVAL, Canada, July 27. RUSSIAN Vladimir Dyatchin and the United States' Kirsten Groome won the Roberval, Canada stop of the FINA 10K Marathon Swimming World Cup held on July 26.
Dyatchin, already the winner of the first two races of the season in Santos, Brazil and Dubai, United Arab Emirates, finished the race in 2:01:29, while Bulgaria's Petar Stoychev, who is leading the points-race in the FINA Open Water Swimming Grand Prix, placed second in 2:02:21. Mazen Aziz of Egypt claimed the third spot for the men in 2:02:32.
On the women's side, Groome scored an upset of Germany's Britta Kamrau-Corestein with a winning time of 2:03:32. Kamrau-Corestein, fresh off the Germany Open Water Championships, placed second in 2:04:14, while Canada's Karley Stutzel finished third in 2:04:23 in front of a partisan crowd.
