BALTIMORE, Maryland, June 12. SHE doesn't swim the event often, so Katie Hoff took advantage of her opportunity Monday night. Competing at the North Baltimore Aquatic Club Long Course Championships, Hoff posted a time of 16:18.43 in the 1500 freestyle. A strong time, it becomes more impressive considering the fact that Hoff is in training.
Over the weekend, Hoff won the 200, 400 and 1500 freestyle events, along with the 100 butterfly and 200 individual medley. The teenage standout, of course, was sensational at the World Championships in Melbourne earlier this year, where she set a world record of 4:32.89 in the 400 individual medley and anchored the United States to a global standard in the 800 free relay.
