Dave Parcells Passes Away After Tampa Bay Marathon Swim

SAINT PETERSBURG, Florida, April 23. DURING the Tampa Bay Marathon swim Saturday, long-time open water swimmer Dave Parcells, 49, withdrew from the race after four hours before collapsing in a rescue boat. He was later pronounced dead at St. Anthony's Hospital.
Television station WFTS in Tampa Bay reported on Sunday that Parcells passed away due to a heart attack suffered during the race.
Parcells passed away doing what he loved best, as he had already competed in the event seven times and won it in 2003.
He is survived by his two children, Jenna and Matthew.
Swimming World Magazine sends its condolences to Parcells' friends and family as they mourn his passing.
