Madison Memorial Takes Third Consecutive Championship in Wisconsin Division I State High School Meet

MADISON, Wisconsin, February 21. WES Lagerhausen, a Badger/Big Foot junior, outperformed his competition in the 200 and 100 freestyle events at the Wisconsin Division I State High School Championships, earning two gold medals and a state record.
Lagerhausen won the 200 freestyle in a record time of 1:39.21. His swim erased the previous mark of 1:39.69 set by Matt Engel of Arrowhead in 2004. Lagerhausen then went on to edge out the defending champion, Arrowhead senior Connor Andrews, in the 100 freestyle (45.15).
Madison Memorial etched their name into the record books with a record-breaking performance in the 200 freestyle relay (1:25.73). The gold-medal relay included senior Michael Hanson, senior Kevin Booske, senior Sam Stone and senior Spencer Loch. Hanson participated in Madison Memorial's 2005 relay that held the previous state mark (1:25.76). Madison Memorial also won the 400 freestyle relay (3:10.56) using Hanson, Loch, Stone and junior Chris Johnson.
The state title returned to Madison Memorial for the third consecutive year. Madison Memorial's 257.5 points overpowered Arrowhead's 212.5 effort. Wausau East took third place with 185 points.
Meanwhile, Neenah High senior Nick Foulks claimed the diving crown with 472.40 points.
