PHOENIX, Ariz., July 13. THE College Swimming Coaches Association of America recently announced its 2005-06 Academic All-American list. Overall, 114 swimmers claimed perfect 4.0 GPAs, while a total of 609 swimmers earned Academic All-American laurels.
Emory University led all divisions with 20 All-Americans, while Auburn paced Division I with 15 garnering individual accolades.
To earn Academic All-American status, student athletes must earn a minimum of a 3.5 GPA and qualify for the NCAA, NAIA or NJCAA championships. Student-athletes with a 3.5 GPA who earn NCAA 'B' times are eligible for Academic All-American Honorable Mention status.
